What are Biomechanics? Basically, Biomechanics is how someone's body moves. When you talk about Biomechanics in regards to swimming, you are really talking about a swimmer's technique.
With that, there's multiple types of data you can record about a swimmer's stroke (i.e. stroke rate, stroke count, splits, etc.). All this type of information can help a coach make better informed decisions about their athletes for their next race. During this talk that Coach Abbie did at ASCA in 2019, they dissect the most common metrics used in race analysis and how you correlate those to type of Freestyle technique a swimmer is either using or should use! Check out our teaser above for a better idea on you'd apply this type of information!
